Winter activities
Located in the heart of the famous Mont Blanc region with an excellent snow sure record Les Contamines offers a wide range of piste and off-piste skiing. With a 120km of uncrowded pistes ranging from 1200m to 2500m you’ll find something to suit all standards; and access to all areas is easy with 26 lifts to choose from.
There are 7 mountain restaurants catering for lunch and refreshment stops. And of course a ski holiday is never complete without the warming glow from a glass ‘vin chaud’.
The slopes are easily accessible from the apartment, only a 2 km drive away; ample parking is available at both lift stations. As an alternative to skiing the village also offers skidooing, dog sledding, ice skating and cross country skiing. Les Contamines is ideally placed to take advantage of neighbouring ski areas, Saint Gervais, Megeve and the world famous Vallee Blanche and Argentiere areas of Chamonix offer an excellent mix of skiing.
The local ski schools are excellent with English speaking instructors; there are two main ski schools, for further details visit www.esf-lescontamines.net and www.ecoledeski.fr.
There is also a day-care centre for children (from 18 months – 12 years) providing various forms of entertainment, an introduction to skiing service for children is also offered. For more details email garderiegalipette@wanadoo.fr.
Ski passes are available for the local ski area as well as the Mont Blanc pass which incorporates all the local resorts. A passport sized photograph is required for the Mont Blanc pass. There are several well equipped ski shops in the village catering for all your skiing and boarding needs.
